Final Thoughts

I want to pass on a big thank you to everyone who helped make this weekend happen! Wayne, Eric and the team at Pacific Power Motorsports for putting together the car and team, my co-drivers who kept it clean and fast (even when I didn’t), all of the volunteer crew, cooks and supporters, Cary and Chris for taking on this blog and adding so many great posts, photos and video, and everyone who tuned in and cheered us on.

The 25 Hours of Thunderhill is a great adventure, one that is open to amateurs and pros alike. A true run what you brung race and my favorite event of the season. It takes many, many hours of work and again, a big THANKS for letting me be part of the team this year.

Just think… with our damaged car we ran 5 seconds per lap slower than we were running prior to the wreck. We ran damaged for 16 hours. Do the math and you will find that the slower laps cost us about 32 laps over those 16 hours and guess how much we lost the class win by? 32 laps. Add in the 15 laps we lost fixing the car and trying to put the new wing on… and… we finish first in class and second overall.

They should just send us the trophy!

Here is my favorite photo of the race. No where else will you find these two cars racing together.

  1. Great Math and great photo Mark. It’s a big WOW when you put those numbers down. I can’t wait to get out there and take it on again and win this thing. Next year I will get a real video camera and a bicycle and put some professional level coverage on this team.

  2. … i’d say it was professionally covered… you guys did a great job and everything short of a live webcast… this was a test drive for next years podium!!

  3. Without a doubt this is the best “running” report I have ever seen with regard to the 25 Hours of Thunderhill. Well done.

  4. Thanks Mark for putting this blog together and allowing us a glimpse of the action.

  5. Another rave review of the outstanding coverage of this event by Chris and Cary. That was a tremendous amount of work– staying up all night, typing with freezing fingers, and having to run over to where you could get enough bandwidth to post the news and photos. Not to mention the technical genius it took to figure out how to accomplish it in the first place. It was a real treat for those of us who couldn’t be there in person. Thanks, Guys!
