The One and Only 911

The holiday weekend is behind us and my excitement is starting to build – even more so than the anticipation of the last two months.

The race weekend forecast looks good – dry, highs in the low 60’s and lows around 40. Snow is forecast around my Central Oregon home starting Wednesday evening, but I will make my escape south earlier in the day.

Thursday we will test and practice, Friday we have more testing and then qualifying in the dark at 5:15 pm. Saturday the race starts at 11:00 am.

Checking the updated entry list this morning I discovered that we are now the ONLY Porsche 911 entered in the race. ALMS professional race team Flying Lizard Motorsports was registered with their RSR, but they have apparently dropped out.

This is an interesting development – 71 cars on the starting grid and only one 911. The Porsche 911 has more enduro race wins than any other model of car in the world. This streak includes total domination of the first four 25 Hours of Thunderhill races.

Porsche 911’s in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill

2003 1st, 2nd, 3rd overall
2004 1st, 2nd overall
2005 1st overall
2006 1st, 2nd overall
